Pre Notes for 2.0


Happy Saturday everyone! It's been a while since I've last updated this, rather, its been a while since I've last updated you.  I've been working on this game nearly everyday however. I was planning on releasing a sizable update a few days ago, buuuut, I've decided against it for now. I've added so many new systems over the past few months and as a result,  the game is back to being a buggy mess. I've reworked multiple entire systems, added multiple new ones, and have yet to test the game for features I've technically added months ago. I won't subject anyone to what the game is now, but I do want to take the time to update anyone who comes across this post, of all the things I've added since my last posted update 2 months ago.

- First things first, I've reworked the player movement system entirely to be more physics based. This will give the movement a more natural feel. Additionally, acceleration has been added. Fall gravity has been added.

-Speaking of natural movement, I've removed the 2 jump limit to allow players to jump endlessly if they spam the jump button. I don't know if I will recap this, but I really liked allowing players the freedom to damn near fly around the map, and I also believe it opens the window for more creative level design down the line!

- 5+ New Relics

Crest Of Nanah - At the end of each round, if HP is below 40%, heal 5 HP. While below 20%, heal 10.

Canydes Dagger Claws -  When you successfully block,  drain up to 10 armor to Cleave and deal 5 + drain amount damage to the enemy. If possible, Cleave again.

- New Stylist 10: Moli, The Clone Caster

Paper Clone - For every 3 Paper spells casted, summon a Paper Clone at the end of the round. It lasts 2(3) rounds or until your next successfully casted spell. The clone copies your spell after your attack. (25HP).

- Added/reworked jump animations across all playable characters.

- Added a trail to double jumps

- Art improved for backgrounds

- Reduced the size of all droppable items by about 40%. They were way too big.

-Art improved for Stylists 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 

-First available route (Tutorial route) reworked.

- Unison Town reworked

- Lore Book art improved

- New: Crates. Breakable objects found in quests that may contain small rewards!

- New: Ladders. Jump on ladders to climb to hard-to-reach areas!

- Reworked Blocking Boulders. Breaks much faster now, must face them to break them. 

- Campfires updated, visually and technically. Players will no longer need to press the C key to open the cooking menu. My Gf played tested the game a while ago and said there were too many keys to remember. So I condensed the need for the 'C' key to the more common 'Z' key. To access the cooking log in towns, there will now be a designated Brick Oven to interact with.

- Reworked Fire Fx again!

- 3 New Spells (With more coming soon)

- Over 4 Spell Reworks

2 Stylist Mini-Reworks

- Slightly reworked Brittle Grounds

- Fixed the weird zoom in glitch after finishing battles

- Updated Overworld death tombstone

- Added white outline to crafting tools when walking near.

- Name tags! Everyone has a name!

- Updated collecting items to visually match collecting Solchips.

- Speaking of Solchips, items no longer drop immediately after battle. Instead, they drop after returning back to the map, while the Solchips that would normally drop are now automatically added to your inventory. This is because there's never really a scenario where players don't want to collect the coins and there isn't a limit to the amount of coins (Solchips) you can collect. Inventory management for items however, is very important. Since the player can only hold up to 5 items, droppable items should be given the chance to be avoided instead.

- New Npcs

- Relic crafting updated to have its own animation.

- Added Hitstop to battles

- Summoned units updated to have hit animations

- Updated and refactored Battle System to accommodate for various upcoming new mechanics

- Updated the HUD(Still not final). Armor now more easily readable. Health and armor now more visually accurate.

- Cut Cutter renamed to Cut Cut Cut. Animation tweaked.

- Venom Blade animation tweaked

- Sap Trees updated

- Fixed Blocking glitch leaving units white.

- Torches have been reworked internally to allow for more click igniting consistency.

- Cooking menu updated again

- Relic crafting menu updated

- Fixed very annoying Dialog system bug where quests and rewards were being given at incorrect times.

- Boiler Room finally added. I want to pretty it up a bit more, but simply buy empty vials from the cooking merchant Marcoh, fill the vials with contaminated water from a waterfall while out questing, return to the Boiler Room to boil the vial and distill it! Distilled water will be important for building rare and power items and potions!

All that being said, there is still no sound, as I think I'll save the sound design for last. There's also a few bugs that annoy the hell out of me. I'm thinking about just releasing 2.0 anyway, buuut 2.0 really makes it sound like a major drop. I'm thinking I do a 1.91 build, then a 1.92 build, and eventually a 1.991 build, to stretch it out a bit. Anyways, if you're reading this, you're a real one. I still haven't done much advertising of the game because I've been so busy, but I'm getting there. Check back in a week, and if I don't post, check again in 2.  :)
